    Windows automatically logged me off

    Hi everyone.

I was booted into Windows a couple of days ago, when without any reason what soever, I was logged off, and had to log in again. I checked Event Viewer, which showed the following:

The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because a composited theme is not in use.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything similar, and if so what causes this to happen?

    Thanks.

    Elliott.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

No - I haven't changed anything. What does this error mean exactly, and could it be the cause of the logoff?

    Thanks.

    Hi.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help; the problem isn't that this is happening every time I login, it was just a oneoff. The reason I asked the question was that I wanted to know if it was something that I should worry about.

    Thanks.

    Hi.

I doubt it's malware, but just out of interest what was the error you had with your registry?

    Thanks.

    Hi again.

After more searching through the Event Viewer, I found the following:

The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0x40010004)

This error appears several times, so I'm wondering if it's a problem with my theme.

    Thanks.
