Edit\delete one of your above posts.
"Normally" following these steps you activate also the Start\search.
Windows Search - Turn On or Off
By activating Windows search in windows and features the windows search also appears in Services.
which version of windows 7 are you running? home premium, professional, ultimate, enterprise?
was it available earlier? did you change any settings or fiddle with any registry?
Though if following the above steps didnt solve your problem,
Then you may need to run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to "fix' your windows.
Run SFC 2-3 times if needed.

i am using windwos 7 ultimate x32 and i have not tampered with regedit at alll and search was not available at all
Hmmm. From the icons I can see you are using a custom theme. Maybe the custom theme disabled the Start Search. Try going to the desktop and right click on it.
Select "Personalize" and click "Windows 7". Then verify if there's the search.
Also, try hitting on your keyboard the Windows Key + the "F" key at the same time. A search box will appear. Tell us if you can search for item in there.
the SFC scan says that windwos resource protection found integrity violations. what does this mean???
