Microsoft games that came with computer aren't working

System - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS, 3 MB RAM, 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 processor.

Problem - I click on the START icon, the go to the GAMES, the only one that works properly is Chess Titans. None of the others (like Mah Jong, Minesweeper, Hearts, Solitaire) run properly. When I try to play, it looks like they are starting, then a pop-up message appears (see attached screenshot as an example). It doesn't give any solution to this problem despite what the message says. Why the chess game works and none of the others is mystifying. I am no computer wiz and would like to know how to fix this, if it is fixable. Thanks.

I would try going to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Windows Components...

    Uninstall all the games.

Click OK all the way out, then reboot.

Now repeat the process, only this time re-enable the ones you want.

If that doesn't work then you'll need to take other steps, so post back and someone will help :)

I did what you suggested and I also ran a sfc /scannow and it detected no problems. but I still can't play most of the games.

Sometimes when you use System File Checker you need to run it three times in succession.

If that doesn't work then I can only suggest a repair install is performed.

Obviously check for malware and do a complete chkdsk /r operation on the drive concerned too.

As suggested above, do give SFC a few more tries. It should take care of the problem.

If not, a repair install using your Windows OS disc should repair/replace the game files.

(If this is a recent problem, maybe a System Restore should help)
