    Start menu issue

Can anyone help here please: Since updating my Win7 x64 I find that many of my programs will not open via the Start Menu, although they will open via the desktop. Is there any way to refresh or repair the Start Menu without re-associating every shortcut on the menu?

    Thanks for any/all help.

start off with a SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
once completed, requires restart. and post back.

I received the following message when I tried running the sfc scan:

Windows Resource Protection could not start the Repair Service.

Strange as I used this scan a couple of days back?

    Thank you for your time.

I have installed PerfectDisk 12 to optimize my SSD but surely this wouldn't mess things up would it?

I'm not sure what the program does. is it a de fragmentation tool? if so, you could use the built in de fragmentation program in windows 7.

are you able right click and select "open" on the program that you want or it doesn't allow you to do that either?
