Windows Explorer Bar disappears from restored folders at power on

My terminology may not be correct, but I have my folders set to be saved at power down and to show the address of the folder to the right of three arrows -- Back, Forward and Up One Level.

Sometimes, on power up, one of the restored folders is missing that bar (or whatever it's called). For example, the computer was turned off yesterday with three folders open. When I turned it back on, one of the folders is missing that navigation bar altogether, no address, no arrows to navigate back, forward or up one folder.

Attached is image of normal folder menu / tool bar.

My searches for this bring up issues with IE, but this is a Windows Explorer Folder issue.

    Any help appreciated.

What third party program are you using to save/restore the folder state on your computer?

    No third-party software ?
This is a windows standard feature:
Folder > Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced > Restore previous folder windows at logon

Ok, some people add this via third party software, which would have made sense in this case because of the issue happening. Do you have any other Windows modification third-party software installed?

As Bongo pointed out to me in a separate message, there is obviously some third party software installed for your explorer window because the "Up" arrow button is not there by default and is only enabled by third party software. I believe this is your culprit.

    I have two add-ons:
    - ClassicShell by IvoSoft, which has an option to show the up arrow; and
    - Icon Restorer by FSL (because I got tired of having my desktop icons move around).

I'm guessing ClassicShell is causing the problem.

    thanks,
    Tom

Yep, that sounds like it. I'd uninstall and see if the problem persists. I'd bet it doesn't.
