Error: "You must type a filename" when renaming folder under roaming .

Running: Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, service pack 1
Logged in under account with administrator privileges (checked)

I am trying to rename a folder that lives here: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming

When I right click on it and select rename and change the name ".foldername" to ".foldername2" I get the following error from Windows: "You must type a filename"

Not sure what it's trying to tell me... But the "new" folder name ".foldername2" doesn't exist...

Any ideas? I googled but didn't find any info about rules for managing directories that live under the roaming folder...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello OldDogEyes,

You are getting that message since you have a period at the start of the name. Only what is in front of the period is consider the actual "file name". Anything after the last period is considered the "file extension" for a file. You'll have to type something like "foldername2" instead without the period.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

This little program allows you to create folders beginning with a dot, Total Commander - home :)
