On the XPS 8300 the recovery partition is also the active partition. Transfer your bootmgr from there to the C: partition with EasyBCD. Here is how. Then you can delete it.
Else you will make your system unbootable if you keep mucking with it.

As advised earlier, Dell OEM Reinstall Disk is just a phone-call away. You are entitled to have it. So get it. Dell is always prompt.

You are very welcome. Your post actually triggered me to make the tutorial. Since I have an XPS8300 myself, I knew what the problem was and how simple it was to correct it.
I don't know if it is the same for every company, but I do know that with Asus, although the computer comes with crapware when it's out of the box, using this recovery option does not bring back most of the crapware, so far on both Asus laptops I have, only 1 crapware program was included in the recovery partition.
