Recycle Bin Displays Empty Until Double-Click

Hey, folks. As the thread title states my recycle bin in Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit displays empty and shows that it can't be emptied in the context menu, even right after I finish deleting something as simple as a 1KB .txt file. And it doesn't update it's status with a refresh, only when I double click the recycle bin on the desktop.

It's never done this before and just started happening (as far as I'm concerned) randomly a few days ago. I've google searched and found nothing except the trick everyone knows about adding ,0 to the end of the registry for custom icons. But unfortunately this does not solve my problem as it's not just the icon that displays empty but the bin itself.

I have also noticed it's been doing it mostly after I wake my computer up from Sleep/Hibernation but not when I restart my computer after noticing the problem. I do hope someone is able to help as this is just one of those minor but quite annoying bugs that seems to be overlooked or hard to find an answer using vague google searches

Have you changed the Recycle Bin Empty and Full Icons? If yes then this would happen because of a bug in the OS. Normally you should be able to show the correct Icon by clicking refresh in the Desktop context menu.

Yeah like I said for some reason even after applying the fix for the icons it does this, and refresh has no effect. The only thing that updates the icon is opening the bin by context menu or double clicking. And no I don't have Automatically delete enabled, the objects are in there when i open it but not before I open it. The icon displays empty before I open it, but not after I open it. It's a glitch I can't seem to find on any forum posts.

Edit: Sorry if any of the info seems confusing since it is a confusing bug. lol

I too struggled with this after changing to custom icons but to no effect. Finally I went back to default icons to get over this problem.

Aw, I hope that isn't the end solution, as the icons I use fit the Buuf theme of icons and I really hate to break the theme up in any way. I do hope someone out there has a solution!

Perhaps one of these days Microsoft shall fix the bug. There is chapter and verse on this issue at Microsoft Answers but no solution at hand.

No, I do not have the link. But you just put "Microsoft Answers" in the Google Search Box and you shall get there soon after navigating around.
