If you select "save as" in the browser, you will save the html file (sometimes along with associated content).

If you click and drag from the URL to the desktop, this will create a web link. You can also right-click on a web page link, and select "save link as" as another method to saving the link instead of web content.

Windows 7 64bit

Hi Lemur,
Many thanks for your reply, I fear I did not make myself clear, these are shortcuts on my desktop and on clicking it say's Open or Save . If I click open it just takes away the dialog box for a second and then returns me to where I was with the same dialog boxes. It says in the properties "Open with Internet Explorer.

Oh, okay. Well, try to create another link.

If it still doesn't work, try right clicking icon and select "open". When it gives you a choice, select IE (and make default). Try again.

If that doesn't work, then rebuild icon cache.

Icon Cache - Rebuild

If that doesn't work (whew), scan your system for malware using malwarebytes and your virus scanner.

If that doesn't work, restore your computer to a prior date when it did work.

Hope that helps...

Let us know.

Hello Terie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Internet shortcuts are URL files. You might see if downloading and merging the URL option in the tutorial below to restore it's default associations may help to have internet shortcuts work properly afterwards.

Hope this helps,

I'm looking for a program capable of interpreting one key and changing it to another, like a middle man. So, in a simple example, output the letter "b" when I push "a". Or in a more complex example, convert things like movements of a joystick into movements of a mouse, or triggers on the joystick...
