So basically, for the Core i7, Windows recognizes wrong numbers of cores right?
No, Windows recognizes that the chip is hyperthreaded.

Back when we had single core chips, when Intel released hyperthreading it appeared that you actually had 2 CPU's.

Today, with quad core chips, we have 4 cpu's. However, when each core has hyperthreading turned on, it appears that we have 8 cores.

You should see 8 CPU's under Windows (or Linux) with a core i7. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a quad core chip. Everything is displaying just as it should.

    Hopefully that makes sense.
