Will w7 work on this netbook?

N-Series Intel® Atom™ Processor N270 (1.60GHz, 533MHz, 512K cache)
1024MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 8GB Solid State Hard Drive

It will be used for internet and skype.

Why would you want Windows 7 on it? the biggest issue will be the 8GB of hard drive space available. You don't want a solid state drive running near full capacity for performance reasons and Win7 is going to pretty much fill that thing up on install.

For just running Skype and the Internet...seems there are better choices for the netbook

You didn't answer the question. He didn't ask if the setup was good; he asked if it would work.

The answer is, yes, Windows 7 would run on that machine (it will run comfortably on a 1.33GHz Atom with 1GB of RAM). However, the install is going to overrun that disk. The minimum system requirements include 16GB of disk space (the final install is not that big; but the install will have cached installation files and the actual install on disk at the same time).

I have installed it on my eee pc 4G (900mhz celeron, 4gb hard drive, 1gb ram). I was very surprised when it ran very fast. However I only have about 300mb of hard drive space left so I can't download anything else, which is a nuisance.

There is a "lite" version of windows 7 on a forum called modmyeee.com. The finished install is only about 3.5 gb.

I remember reading somewhere that microsoft was going to release a version of window 7 just for the netbooks. There also modded version online I found one that all you needed was 256 ram to run. It booted faster than the xp i had at home.

Runs well on my 150 with 1.5gb ram and a 2gb sd card on readyboost. Faster than XP in fact.
