I cant shutdown without holding the power button

I made a live windows external hard drive and it went successful and the shutdown that time went perfectly fine. After that, i tried to install Avira but the setup just hangs so i removed it and it did not leave any file of it and the same goes to avast then i tried to install AVG and it got stuck on installing at 87% so i removed it and it left tons of files. Then after that, the shutdown got stuck, i left it for 30 minutes but still not so i just hold the power button to shut it down.

How can i fix the shutdown error??

Is it just okay to hold the power button to shutdown when shutting down is stuck and wont do anything bad?

    Hi Bene4Lyf

I am not very clear on what you were doing in the first place -- installing various AVs ?
    - looks like your main concern is the emergency shutdown
Is it just okay to hold the power button to shutdown when shutting down is stuck and wont do anything bad?
Not usually, in my own experience ...
    - on some laptops the "Start Button" can be configured to "Shut Down"
    - shutting down in this way will not cause any harm (but you might loose unsaved work)
    - this shutdown might take longer than normal because Windows will try to create a psuedo "Hibernate" of your open apps and files
    - in my experience when the PC is restarted (cold boot) all previous apps and files are generally reopened

    ------------
    Those antivirus installs ...
All care must be taken when installing AVs on a machine that has had another AV installed ( or I assume even a failed install)
    - using Windows "Add Remove" is not good enough as there is a risk that remnants of the previous AV is still on the system, and might conflict with a later AV install (it happens)
    - the default "uninstall.exe" files that come with AVs (in my experience) do not always thoroughly cleanup.
Best to see if the new AV vendor provides a link to a thorough uninstall tool by the first AV vendor
    Example:
wanting to install brand-b over brand-a -- use brand-a uninstall tool, sometimes brand-b will provide a link to brand-a uninstall tool
    - Google or https://duckduckgo.com (search engines) are your friend)

It will be easier if we take this one step at a time:
Can the PC start from a cold boot ?

I can see that AVG is completely uninstalled but there is something that is staying in the programs in the control panel and its the Visual Studio 2012 and i can see its from AVG so i tried to uninstall it but it just keeps at being stuck in the setup

I tried the cold boot (the restart one) but it still got stuck on shutting down and i really wonder why i can boot up to my computer for just 2 minutes but when i shut down, it just hangs for the whole time

Also i tried to download Driver Booster and it showed up almost all the drivers are very very out of date like the very old version. Do you think updating all of them one by one will fix it? Also why its taking a long time or stuck in initializing?

Don't panic ... installing driver updates might just complicate your problems
Do you have a Restore Point to use. ?

Have you checked for malware ? "Malwarebytes" free will do it
Spyware check with (free) portable Super Anti Spyware.
Virus check with (free) Bitdefender online virus check

How did you uninstall AVG ?
    - Add Remove programs ?
    - a generic third party removal tool ?
    - did you uninstall with CCleaner, I can see it on your "Programs and Features" list ?
    - if you did use CCleaner, did you run as Administrator ?

I would not run any generic driver updater at all.
    - best to fix the shut down problem before adding anything else.

Just because AVG is not listed on the installed programs list does not mean it is clean removal.
    - as i said in my previous post, if there are any residual files/settings they might be clashing with other AVs you have tried to unsuccessfully install.

What AVs did you try to install, and in what order ?
    - from your OP you tried several, one on top of the other
    - and to repeat ...
All care must be taken when installing AVs on a machine that has had another AV installed ( or I assume even a failed install)
    - using Windows "Add Remove" is not good enough as there is a risk that remnants of the previous AV is still on the system, and might conflict with a later AV install (it happens)

I would suggest you download each AVs official uninstall tool and run them in the order you tried to install them.
Doing emergency shut downs should not harm the PC
    - have you backed up your data ?

Take a deep breath, stay calm and we will try and get through this one step at a time !

Sadly i dont have a restore point since every time i try to do a restore point, it just fails and also i uninstalled AVG in the Programs in Control Panel and i tried to use the uninstaller software of AVG but it did nothing. Im also trying to delete that visual studio but it keeps getting stuck on preparing to uninstall.

The problem happened before i installed the Driver Updated and i just downloaded it since i cant update each one of them and i dont think that is the program causing the problem.

AVs i tried to install: (in order)
    1.Avira
-setup just hangs so i just deleted the setup
    2.Avast
    -same with avira
    3.AVG
-setup almost done but just failed and just kept the files it made so i uninstalled it but it still have some of it's components hiding
    4.PCKeeper
-got stuck on setup on 48.30% so i deleted the setup
    5.PC Matic
-the AV program that worked for me and its now functioning well

I also did not backed up my data since theres nothing in it after the clean install in my External HDD

Also when it try to configure or like installing updates # of # (ex. 1 of 10) it just gets stuck and im being forced to hard shutdown it and my drivers are all updated already but the issue still persists (btw i have 210 important updates in my Windows Update and do you think updating them all will fix the problem?)

Thats all the info i can give for your question. :)

    EDIT:
Finally uninstalled the two Visual Studio x64/x84 Redistributables of AVG and i should just had patience on waiting for it to uninstall :) I'll tell the result of removing it on my next reply

After deleting the Visual Studio x64 2012 and Visual Studio x84 2012 of AVG, i tried to shut down my laptop and it did shutted down after 10-15 minutes! But is there any other way to make it shut down of at least 15-20 seconds? Just not a shutdown that is going to take more than 1 minute

EDIT: After removing those programs, my laptop did not just started to shut down when shutting down, it also lessens its shutdown time like on my 3rd time shutting it down, it just took 2 minutes and i think that its still counting until it reaches the normal shutdown time :)

    Hi Bene,
I think you have bigger underlying problems if you still have 210 Updates still to install, (waiting to download)

Can you look at this screen please (control panel >> system) Does it show Service pack 1 under windows 7
    see screenshot.

if not please follow the instruction in this link
Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions

Is W7 on your internal drive or your external toshiba

    Here it is:

    Already have the SP1

My Windows 7 is installed in my external hdd since i think my internal hdd is corrupted

Also that SP1 is already in there when i installed and activated Windows in it.

If your internal hard disk is corrupted, you need to take it out, Your comp can still see it and its possibly trying to repair it or its getting stuck in a loop, hence the long shutdown.
