"System volume information" folder on my old Vista installation

Hello,

I just bought myself new HW and a new SSD for my computer, and I also installed a fresh Windows 7 on the new SSD. I put my old HDD with Vista on D: and copied a couple of documents over to "my documents" folder to my C: drive + a couple of other files.

I am now cleaning up my D: drive to get rid of all the Vista files which I don't need any more, and I have stumbled over "System volume information" folder. This folder was last modified at the date I installed Windows 7 (5 days ago). Can I just remove this folder without any repercussion?

It's actually a part of System Restore; the tool that allows you to set points in time to roll back your computer. The System Volume Information folder is where OS stores these points and associated information that makes them accessible.
If you're not using System Restore feature, you can delete it. I recommend you to keep it untouched.

Um, I have the system restore files for my Windows 7 in C:, right? And the system restore files for my old vista in D:? Which I have no use of? Or am I missing something here?

Okay.
So, you want to keep System Restore feature enabled for Partition D?
If Yes, then I think you only want to delete old system restore cache from the D: partition.
Just go to:
Delete a restore point

It will delete those old cache for previous versions.
