Windows 7 AC power to Battery problem

I've been having the worst time trying to troubleshoot this problem. What's happening is, whenever I take the AC power cord out my laptop and it switches over to internal battery supply, the screen gets really white and it becomes near impossible to read anything. Once I plug the power cord back in, all is well again and back to normal viewing operations. Please help me fix this.

Dell D610

Intel Pentium M 750 (1.86GHz)
2.00GB RAM
ATI Radeon X300 64MB
60GB Hard Drive, 5400RPM
14.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD

I know it's a dated laptop but any help is much appreciated.

Im guessing it has to do with the power-saving screen Dim.

If it does, how and where should I go to fix it?

Ok just realized but I don't have a "Dim the Display" option. Just the other two.....

Try disabling Power-Saving on the Radeon, somewhere, and maybe that might work. I read an article somewhere, the person had a laptop with Intel IGP, and when the power-saving function was on, the text was very washed out, and disabling it fixed the problem.

FIXED!!! Eli2k was right. Thanks so much for your support guys. All I did was right click on desktop, graphics properties, and then turned off all Intel power saving utilities. Worked like a charm. Hope this helps someone out in the future.
