you say i can always go back - but with no optical drive, won't that be tough? i know you can install windows 7 from a thumb drive, but putting xp back via usb would be a right pain.

though i guess i could just image the drive before i try windows 7...

Peanut Butter & Jelly.

I run Windows 7 daily on an HP Mini 2140 (Atom 270, 2GB, 160GB 5400RPM HDD). It boots a bit slow, and running multiple tabs in Chrome can be a challenge (I've turned off flash and run the browser in single-process mode). But the overall experience is quite reasonable - slower than XP, but with better usability and more functionality (running Ultimate on mine). There's a trade-off in terms of performance, but I travel all over the world and it sure beats lugging my Dell Precision M6400 LINO (Laptop in Name Only) around airports, etc.

Windows 7 Profesional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) RTM - TechNet

I just finished installing 7 on an MSI U123 Wind.

It has the Atom N280 running at 1.66Ghz. I did swap the memory out to the max 2gb.

I never even booted into xp, I installed 7 first thing. But I did leave the restore partition in place

Aero graphics are a little weak, just a 2.0, but she runs great...

I have just installed Win 7 Ultimate onto a brand new Acer D250 (upgraded to 2gb Ram) and it runs sweet as a nut.....
No problems with only rates 2 but runs fine.
The ones you are looking at are a spec up from mine so they should be even better.
I say go for all I have to do is stop going from ym 22 inch Samsung Monitor to the netbook 10 inch......causes weird reactions from the eyes...:)
