Convert Scanned jpeg into a word document.

I have a Epson OFFICE 620f printer/scanner/copier/fax m/c. I also have MS Office 2007 installed and operating system is Win7.

The scanner gives me a jpeg file, I would like to able to get this file into a state such that I can work on it using MS Word ... thanks

(This m/c that I want to do this on has win7 Pro 64 bit installed)

Thanks guys ... really quick. However a problem it's not actually just text. It's a form that you have to enter information in and also a little bit is in Thai! So it doesn't come out well!!

Now you are really complicating the matter. I am afraid there is no help - maybe in Thailand for the Thai part.

doesn't the printer software allow you to save scans as a PDF then you can fill the forms using nitro pdf reader or acrobat etc
nitro is free and you can use it to edit pdf's

Thanks again ... no it just has Epson scan and only gives a jpeg image ... anyway my options are 20kms each way to get a new form ... make a new form in office (I'm half way through that) ... buy some erasing fluid tomorrow and then photocopy the repaired document ... next time I'll make an extra copy first!

    Thanks for trying guys ...

You need an optical character recognition software.

You may scan the form in to a Jpg and insert this image in to a new word document, enlarge the form to fill the page, and then format the image in layout tab to send the image behind the text. Now using the forms toolbar, you may insert the text fields, wherever necessary and save the file. To enter text on the form field, click on the field and enter text and save the file.

Another solution would be to directly scan in to Adobe Acrobat 9 to create a PDF and then use the optional program Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES (bundled with Acrobat 9 Professional) to add form fields to this PDF file.

It is possible to scan documents directly into Word, Excel,... 2007 and 2010.

To open the scan dialog Enter Alt I P S

LibreOffice (free) also has a scanning option, but I've never tested it.
