How Can i get my HDMI to Actually Work?

    Okay so heres the thing,

My TV is a 42' Conia CPDP4290 Plasma, It only has 1 HDMI Port,
My System Specs for my Desktop are:
    -AMD FX 8150 3.6ghz 8-Core
    -12Gb Ram
    -Nvidia gtx560 2gb
    -2Tb HD
-Asrock 880amh/U353 (I think thats the mobo)

And heres the problem, i cant seem to connect the HDMI up to my TV (yes my tv is on the HDMI channel) and it only has 1 port on my TV, but my Xbox seems to work fine? just not my PC it really annoying, even when i go into the Nvidia Controll Panel it doesnt even pick up the HDMI connection.

Btw no i dont have a DVI, im currently only running it off a VGA Cable

How exactly are you going from the pc to the tv. By that I mean both ends of the cable.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution and click Detect. what you're doing is adding a display so you will have to then choose from the options, Extend, clone, etc. BTW, have the TV on and connected.

HDMI cable, one end connected to 560 HDMI output, the other to the TV's HDMI input? TV won't display PC output. I have no answer for that.

Hi. Got the same issue here. I have 32" Toshiba LCD TV. I'm just able to connect it through D-Sub cable. It has 2 HDMI port. I've never been able to make it work with My laptop (ASUS 42 series). Though the laptop alternate setting was able to detect it, but I got only a snapshot then the screen goes blank.

Lately I just heard maybe it was due to HDMI class and HDMI types of cable incompatibility. So then I just gave it up. Let D-Sub connector plus audio jack do the job.
