Thanks, just tried it and got them back. Not sure why I lost them though in the first place.

Just found out, same as you, that as soon as I re-boot my Icons are gone again. Only started happening since I installed 64 bit verstion though that may have nothing to do with it.

For the past few days my desktop icons have been OK, but today when Windows opened they had all disappeared again. I brought them back from - View - Show Desktop Icons - but anyone found a reason why this should keep happening?

OK... Took some elbow grease and a little bit of frustrating patience but I found a solution to this problem. I tried just about every other "solution" I could find and nothing worked for me. So if this helps anyone then "Right On!"

    1)
Create and/or login to your workstation with a different profile/username.

    2)
Go to Control Panel / Folder Options / View / Enable Show Hidden Files/Folders

    3)
    Go to c:\users\<trouble profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows

    4)
Rename the "Explorer" folder to "Explorer-old" (Or something similar - I don't like deleting things).

    5)
Log off and then log back on with the profile you were having trouble with.

Hopefully your desktop icons will be there waiting for you.

Not sure if this will work for everyone... But it worked for me. :)

    Go to c:\users\<trouble profile>\
