i'm trying to open a bat file without my command prompt opening and quickly closing
What you're seeing is the batch file starting, executing (running), and completing. Upon completion, the 'command prompt' disappears, as the batch file is finished.
If you'd like the batch file to not disappear upon completion, I'd recommend adding "pause" to the end of it.
