Gregrocker posted a video of how to remove/ replace an hard drive which was simple enough. I've already taken the hard disk out and tried wiping off any dust etc.

Today when I turned on my

My laptop has been doing this for a while, whenever I go to shut down my laptop from start menu the screen goes black but the fans stay on and the keyboard lights still glow (I have an Alienware with the glowing keyboard). Only when I hold down the manual switch does it shut down all the way.

There is a moving cursor but nothing else happens. the login page does not appear. The screen background just stays blue with white rays. I do not want to lose any files. What can I do ? :confused:
