Just looked in Vista device manager and expanded every item and there's no mention at all of an ethernet controller. I'm confused. Thanks for your time, J
Sorry for being dumb but you lost me there. I'm running 64 bit Vista. Where's the Vista folder. Do you mean find it in Vista and transfer it?
Also, back in & what do I do with it and what do I do with the inf. in LIE60 assuming I find it? Thanks,J
Hi,
Go back a couple of pages to my posts #33 and #34- instead of updating the Network Adapter, try updating this
The folder you browse to is this one you posted earlier (assuming you have 64bit 7 installed
When you get to this , where it asks for the .inf,
this is the one you open
May not work, but it's worth a go.

Not that I'm showing off like, but over the weekend I implemented a triple install of Windows 7 x86, Windows 7 x64 & my production Vista x86 install.
Had to install the x64 vista by booting to the DVD from BIOS rather than from within Vista or Windows 7 x86, but apart from that it was really easy to implement.
The only slight confusion is that when booting up you then have 2 x 'Windows 7' as well as 'Microsoft Windows Vista', and have to remember which Windows 7 is which! (you would have thought they would have labelled them x64 & x86 to help in this!).
This is the first time that I've installed an x64 OS despite having a 64-bit processor, and I'm pleased to see that there were no problems over that found with legacy devices in x86, with the slight exception of my old V.92 modem (which I never use now and is not connected to the phone line) for which there does not seem to be a 64-bit driver.
x64 is very fast indeed, and I am so impressed that I will be buying x64 RTM when it goes on sale. The x86 Windows 7 Beta has now been ditched!
Hi ceejay,
You could change the Disk Label like this,
or through bcdedit, or you may like to get the free EasyBCD and iReboot from this site - think you'll find them useful
Download EasyBCD 1.7.2 - NeoSmart Technologies
Hope it helps

Hi. I've tried to follow what you said but did not get to a file asking for inf. just one that wanted and a correct drive and had a blued out in the box. Here's a couple of screenshots . I had already browsed to the zip file with the 64 file in it so I opened that but nothing happened.
I have the impression I'm getting closer, am I living in a fools paradise?
Got to sleep now, got an early start tomorrow. Thanks again, J
Hi John,
It won't be able to pick up the drivers while they are compressed (zipped).
Rt click the zip file and select Extract - then do as before, but this time pick up the uncompressed x64 folder.
See if that does the trick

Good morning SIW2,
Tried as you suggested and extracted the zip file. This gave me ar8121_10028 on my desktop. I then went through the process again and this time got to the request for inf. (blued) I tried opening the 64 bit L1e60x64 file (the middle one) and it just opened. Then tried copy and paste but it wouldn't do it. I then did the drop down box and chose the ar8121-10028 file and clicked open. Still no result. I must be missing something at this stage.
Off to work now so I'll try again tonight. Here are the snips of what I just tried. Thanks a lot, John:)
