seems like the display is jittering back and forth...seen this now 2-3 times...what could this be? a reboot, it goes away.

    have you tired another monitor?
also can you please list computer specs?
your specs only show your operating system.

I assume you mean 'tried' another monitor. no, i don't have another one. this problem is very intermittent- like once a month.

    • Monitor: HP w1907
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium [64-bit]
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 quad-core processor [3.1GHz, 6MB cache]
    • 12GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
    • FREE UPGRADE! 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 750GB
    • Office 2010
    • SAVE $20! Norton Internet Security(TM) 2011 - 15 month
    • 1GB DDR3 Radeon HD 6450 [DVI, HDMI. VGA adapter]
    • SuperMulti DVD Burner
    • Integrated Ethernet port, No wireless LAN
    • 15-in-1 memory card reader, 2 USB 2.0 (front), audio, 2 USB (top rear-facing)
    • TV tuner, ATSC-NTSC with PVR, remote
    • Beats Audio (tm) -- integrated studio quality sound
    • Premium HP keyboard and optical mouse

What type of cable are you using to connect to GPU? If you're using the vga/hdmi or vga/dvi that may very well be your problem. I recommend a DVI cable or HDMI if you want sound. The only outputs on that monitor are DVI and VGA...go DVI.

The main suspects would be the monitor or video card. First thing I would do is check your video cable to make sure its connected correctly. If that was a CRT monitor I would put it at the top of the list. If you don't have another monitor do you have another PC or laptop to test your monitor on? If your motherboard has onboard video you could switch to that temporarily as a test to rule out a faulty video card.

I looked up the monitor and it's a newer flat panel so i would check your connections on both the monitor end and the computer end of the cable. also the reset suggestion above is a good idea also.

well, it's just so random. Once a month or so. I might go with the HP 2311x.

I had that happen with an older CRT,
after opening it I found a connection had shorted out.
I ofcourse just bypassed the connection and resoldered, probably shouldnt have worked.. but i got 3 more years out of that monitor before i parted with it.
"I do not reccomend that on LCD's, or even CRTs".. was just something i tired before tossing it.
