#1881
Hi all,
joined today in hope of saving my super cool Win7x64 install...
My #1 mistake: for some reason too long to explain, I don't have a system image ready to restore.
I'm a graphic designer and though I have a PC background, I also enjoy Unix-based OSes like OSX and Ubuntu. The PC world is more free and offers so much diversity, but the price is unstability, IMO. In 7 years of using my MacBook, I haven't ever had to reinstall... that says a lot, and I never achieved anything like that with any other system.
Now I still like my Windows a lot, but it infuriates me that my new "super-rig" fails me after less than a year. I also utterly fail to properly grasp the notions of EFI, UEFI, GPT vs MBR, etc (though I know these aren't Windows-specific)... I come to realize that, being (or trying to be) the hard-working human I am now (compared to my teens) leaves me with way less time to tinker under the hood of the computer. I need this stuff to just WORK, not to present super hard-/software challenges in new technology which workings I haven't been able to actually learn.
Anyway... I'm glad a community like this exists to (maybe) help out the aging dudes like me.
