Greetings and salutations.
I, as you can surmise from the title, am new to this forum.
I am at present coming to you from my soon-to-be-retired Windows XP Dell tower.
I have acquired two Dell Precision T3400 towers sans hard drives, RAM and video cards. They were previously owned by a company that used them to make/and test games(2K GAMES). These towers were retired, via a moving company, and I acquired them from one of the moving company's employees.
One of the tower CPU's is a Intel Core2 extreme. The other tower CPU is a Intel Core2 quad. I haven't decided which to use. The power supplies are 525 Watt.
At present I have acquired one Western hardrive, 1TB(WD Blue), WD1DEZES to install.(the seller guarantees it, and has three more available at $35 ea.)
I will be acquiring 4 1G RAM chips($40).
I am still trying to decide what graphics card to install($20-30).
I plan on a fresh install of Windows 7(free if I'm lucky).
Or should I be considering Windows 8 ?
I am purchasing all the components from Craigslist, or Ebay, since my budget is limited.
I am not quite sure which forum I should access to seek assistance to any questions I have that I am sure will arise. Since this is to be my first rebuild(I have previously upgraded memory, changed out power supplies for my first pc-an emachines from 2000-now gone).
I hope you can suggest which area will best suited for me.
Thank you,
Respectfully,
Bruce
Welcome to Seven Forums Bruce SX. This is a "introduce yourself" thread, so you will definitely want to post a new thread for your questions. PC Custom Builds and Overclocking - Windows 7 Help Forums might be the best place to start. Title your post something like "Questions about new PC build". Link to this post or better yet, copy the text to the new post. We have some great hardware experts here (as well as every other type ). Again, welcome neighbor :)

Thank you for the welcoming and advice A Guy & jeepmann4X4. I hope to be able to learn as much as I can here to augment what I think I already know. Then, perhaps, I can share what I learn with others such as myself.
Hello everyone, Steve here from Philippines and great to be here. I am using windows 7 and really have no problem with it and hoping to learn more about it here. Thanks
