Interesting reading here: stopzilla for real or a scam?

Read all the way through. Lots of bad posts but many good ones as well. Seems to be a problem with StopZilla hijacking your IE sometimes.

    Ztruker,

I have read the thread about STOPzilla a scam ?
I had a problem a few weeks ago and now it is solved. I did a lot of
things including Scan by STOPzilla and initial fix with STOPzilla free trial version.

There are 3 kinds of posts:
    1. Ben from STOPzilla 2. Positive for ZTOPzilla 3. Negative for STOPzilla
    It was not easy
I will let everyone decide for them selves. I had success with STOPzilla and will purchase it (smallest package for 1'st year. It was not easy!
I also found a wireless mouse with a problem (not working the way it should)

One more question: The backup procedures in the Tutorials are not working
for me. Do I have to keep trying or start a new thread.

    Thanks for your help...

Sounds like it`s time for a reinstall. Have you installed anything that brought this on ? Can you do a system restore ?

I can do a system restore. But to what point. A fewdays ago, 4-5 weeks ago or earlier last year when the laptop was bought.
Do I have to reinstall anything?

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Try a few days back, see if your pc works fine. If not go back a few more days etc.

    Hi AddRAM

I have restorerd twice up to a week. With good results.
After a few hours (6-8) the computer keeps going back to the same problem again.
    No ScreenSavers and acting strange.
Do I keep going back to restore or is reinstall the only solution?

    Thanks

What happens over that 6-8 hours? Do you reinstall any software, do windows update?

If nothing then a reinstall may be the only permanent solution. Just make sure you have your data backed up first.

    Ztruker,

I have a good backup of data/documents. It is working reasonable now.
Is a recovery disk or reinstalling windows the same

They accomplish the same thing but there are advantages and disadvantages to both methods.

Using the Recovery disc put your computer back to exactly like it was when you purchased it. That includes all the garbage applications (Foistware) many include that no one really wants. The advantage is there will be no problem with any device drivers missing, though Win 7 has very little problem in that area anyway.

Using a full Install disc give you a clean install with no additional garbage but it also does not include any application that you may have liked from the original install. There also may be a problem with some device drivers though after the first Windows Update they are usually taken care of.
