Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit blinking white dash!

I got my Radeon 6570 today and I installed it, but now Windows won't boot it just gives me the blinking white dash. So I removed the card, switched back to onboard from BIOS and it still didn't work. I tried a lot of other stuff but it didn't work so I reinstalled Windows with the graphics card removed (Hoping it would reinstall the drivers for the onboard video) it didn't. So then I tried booting from an old Linux disc I found and it worked (how I am typing) but Windows still won't. Any help? I ran a diagnostics text and everything is working, and I can even access all my personal files on my old Windows install from Linux so I know that it's active.

check inside your case for connections to your harddrive. also check your bios boot settings and see if the os drive is first.

Yep, I did that already. 1st device is HDD, and it's connected fine, along with every other piece of hardware. I think if I can install the drivers for my card, it ill work, but I can't do that unless I can boot into Windows. I could maybe format the drive but I have a lot of information that I can't lose.

have you tryed to do a system repair from your windows 7 dvd?

Yeah, the startup repair said Windows boots fine, and system restore didn't help at all. So I completely reinstalled Windows and now my stuff is still there in Windows.old but I can only boot into an OS if I use my Linux disc. It still gives me the blinking white dash.

It's indeed reckless to use windows.old for backup, or keep any files you rely upon on your HD during repairs or partitioning. I would copy them out now with DVD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

The problem may be settings in the BIOS. If you unplug the card you'll likely need to re-enable onboard video chip. Win7 should also have the drivers for any modern video card.

I would do that but I can't get into Windows to install the drivers.

Enter BIOS setup and confirm your onboard GPU chip is enabled, unplug the card.

Reboot into Win7. What error is given?

Reboot into System Recovery Options to run Startup Repair repeatedly, report back findings.

Try entering the Device Manager using the method at the end of this tutorial, see what driver is given the Display adapter and what state it is currently in. If a driver is present, uninstall it to see if install will complete. Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation

After trying these steps with onboard, if necessary try them again with the video card as your chip may be failing.

The onboard GPU is definitely enabled, I will try the method above now and see what happens.

Nope, one I get passed the first part of the install it says reboot and gives me the same blinking dash error.
