How do users view this site when they open it?

I am interested, almost purely, in help given and help asked for. When I open this site, or any other similar, I found the easiest way to read it was to immediately go to "New Posts".

Over the past weeks, this has created a problem for me. I find (today for example) that selecting "New posts" after a 12 hour absence, reveals 9 unread pages!!!!

As the various help categories are scattered, it is doubly laborious to go into each section, searching. It has almost (for me, at least) made it prohibitive) What do you guys do on initial entry? I am looking for a better solution than mine.

This forum moves fast! There's no way on earth to totally stay on top of everything, but having the SF gadget installed/running sure helps...

    Hi

there are a couple of things you can do to make you life easier. I find viewing newest posts helps, and I mark the forums as read just before leaving. My best tip for you is the seven forums gadget. It lets you see the newest post in a thread and tells you how old it is. With gadget you can chat with other users, see who is online and where and mouse over give you a preview of the newest post.

Hope this help and if you have questions about gadget feel free to PM me

    Ken

Ok. Thanks . I,ll give it a whirl.

Later. I didn't absorb the suggestion thoroughly. When you mentioned "gadgets", you actually meant "Gadgets" lol. For various reasons, I don't use the gadgets so I,ll try some other alternatives. No worries. 6 hours absence so only 5 pages to scan through this time - lol.
