    Create Columns

Hey I want to create columns in windows 7.
I searched a lot of stuff but every where I found that "columns cannot be created in windows 7". But in virtual machine folder new columns are there in windows explorer.

So please help me to create new columns in detail view of windows 7.

AFAIK you can't do that with the standard Windows explorer, sorry.

It might be possible with one or more of the explorer shells that are available, although I haven't checked. What is the new column that you wish to create, and what file data is it to report?

I want to create "Primary disk" column.
n I think its possible because i had downloaded "windows virtual PC" and a folder "virtual machine" is created in which columns like "Primary disk" etc are there.

It does seem that additional column headings are added after installing MS VM tools like XPmode. This link states how it used to be done "under Windows XP or earlier" - but I've not found a link that details how it is done now.

I only have access to one W7 Pro 64it OS that does not have XPmode installed and it does not have the column heading of "Primary disk" - however, the "date modified" for explorer.exe on that system is Feb 2011 as opposed to Nov 2010 for a system with XPmode and the extra column choices.

You want to create this column on a computer that does not have a MS VM tool installed?

If a MS VM tool is installed, then that column heading is available for all folders... it just may be empty when used elsewhere.

It appears that it can be done - but I'm not finding MSDN or codeproject documentation as to how.
