    What?

Windows 7 is by far the most stable Windows yet. I have yet to do a reinstall after 3 years, and I'm running the Ultimate x64 version. Windows 7 is stable & rock-solid.
    same for me.

The main thing that I missed was the "Space Cadet" pinball game.
what a flashback :) i quit gaming because of the cadet...
I have seen the cadet on 7....

    hello,

I agree Windows 7 is the most stable version Microsoft ever created but what bugs me if you look at the prices for the same product in US there quite allot cheaper then for Europe.I have nothing against americans in facts i have friends there but the price difference is quite obvious. When i goto microsoft store i can choose between having send an upgrade dvd or purchase just an activation key so Belgium is indeed on the list.

another thing i'm thinking about.I have a Medion laptop and they have a technolgy called a "bioslock" i have doubts the windows anytime upgrade will work and i don't feel like paying €190 for something i won't be able to use.Does anybody know if windows anytime upgrades will work ? i do know the oem information will be removed since it's not the original anymore but that can be restored easly.

I can vouch from personal experience that the Windows Anytime Upgrade will install without difficulty over an OEM operating system.

Obviously, you'll need to activate the upgrade, but that is easily and quickly taken care of by Microsoft's automated telephone activation wizard.

    Activate Windows 7 by Phone

When you upgrade from one windows 7 edition to a higher one through "windows anytime upgrade" i think the activation is automatic. You have to purchase a key and this key will be checked by the wau upgrade software when the key is invalid the whole process will be stopped. From what i've seen on the net this process is automatic. The computer will reboot a few times when it's it's complete you end up with a genuine and activated windows 7 edition.

Maybe by the time service pack 3 or 4 comes out W7 may be stable.

Just remember Microsoft charges more for W7 than any previous version of Windows and you get less features. They just put lipstick and a new dress on top and charge you more. So check all alternatives before doing an upchange.
There's no way in hell you are an IT admin if you feel this way. First, Windows 7 doesn't cost more. Second, as an IT admin, you'd know off the bat that Windows 7 and XP are far different and really have nothing in common. Less features? Are you sure you've actually used Windows 7 before? It certainly doesn't seem like it.

Lastly, if you really don't think Windows 7 is stable, that calls in to question your very ability to install an OS...which Windows 7 is by far, the easiest to install.

Sorry, but based on your comments, you are flat out lying about your IT experience. I'm wondering if you've ever actually used Windows 7 before, but that's neither here nor there.

I will ask you that stop spreading false misinformation, as you are only confusing people coming here for factual answers and advice.

    Not true.

Yes, you do purchase a new product key and yes the upgrade can take half-an-hour or so.

The computer does not reboot during the process, it just flags up when the process is complete.

I repeat, and once again from personal experience, that when the Windows Anytime Upgrade is complete you will have to re-activate your system.

When you buy a Windows Anytime Upgrade key you are upgrading the system and therefore paying more as Windows 7 Professional costs more than Windows 7 Home Premium.

As with any new operating system it will have to be activated and the automated system is quick and painless.

Quite what you've got against proving you're using genuine software I fail to see, unless.........................

The goal of "automation" is there is no human interaction with the phone thingy i have to stand up pick up the phone dial the number answer the questions the system asks ....... that voice maybe automated but i am still a human besides €190 for just the upgradekey they are nuts ! do you know how much money that is ? oh and you have no reason to doubt whether i'm using pirated software because i'm using the manufacturer original ......... I have used phone activation before in the windows XP time being forced to make a phonecall has nothing todo with automation.
