    I am well aware of how much 190 euros is, but the bottom line is that if you want to upgrade Windows you'll have to pay more money and you will have to activate the upgrade.

    If you don't like or don't want to use the automated system then you would have to speak with Microsoft's activation personnel.

    As I said, I just don't see why you're so against activation. Either you accept the situation or forget the upgrade, but ranting on a forum helps no-one, least of all yourself. :)

    ---------------- Anytime Upgrade may not work for all version of Windows --------------------- Note: Retail "Full" or "Upgrade" product keys will work when using the Anytime Upgrade feature.
    The Anytime Upgrade "May" not work (check with the computer manufacture's support team) for users who have OEM and or System Builders product Keys, this also applies to VL (Volume License), MSDNAA or Academic product Keys it will not work with Anytime Upgrade. KMS users should consult with your administrator prior to attempting to perform an Anytime Upgrade.

    hi,

    Also if this is all true then somebody should teach microsoft some correct and unconfusing dutch at microsoft store here it says you have 2 options

    • Kopen activeringssleutel
    • Kopen pakket

    Translated to English that would be:

    • purchase activation key
    • purchase package

    confusing ...

    Before having yet another rant at Microsoft you should have clicked through to the next page where you would have discovered that:
    1. Kopen activeringssleutel gives you the option of buying an upgrade key that unlocks your present installed copy of Windows to the version whose product key you bought. When you use this option you'll receive your upgrade product key by e-mail.
    2. Kopen pakket gives you the option of buying an upgrade DVD, which will arrive supplied with an upgrade product key.
    You might well ask how I know this. Quite simply, the second option charges extra for the postage and packing needed to send you the software.

    Game, set, and match, I believe. :)

    Yes the second option charges extra that is true.It should state that windows will need to be reactivated by phone.This discussion is useless

    All Windows need activating even if the Product Key is inserted earlier - either manually from SysTray or Control Panel>System, or using the automated method when WIn7 goes online if it is offered.

    The nag message usually suffices to get it done but if it is ignored then user will start losing functionality.

    Can you access the UK Amazon site? If you can, and could live with an English Win7, these are the alternates:

    * Win 7 Pro, OEM, £103:70.
    * Win7 Pro, FULL RETAIL, £156:10.
    * Anytime Upgrade Home Prem. to Pro, License - £69:97 (3 new FROM £30:00).
    * Ultimate, FULL RETAIL, £155:99.

    Here in the UK, we have the same problem with prices in $US. An item that may be $100 usually comes to us at £100, for example. This is something we have always resented. It's business. It's American, and the business of America is business.

    BTW: why rant and rave on forums, at people who are attempting to give advice?

    Calm down, this is no place for hysteria.

    What do you want now? A bloody medal? Grow up.

    And for your information, we happen to be British citizens, not Britts as you stated. Let's start having a bit of respect for others please.
