Windows 8.1 Enterprise

To make the icons reappear, and enable the check boxes for the system icons, delete the specific registry keys.

System Icons - Enable or Disable
  1. Run Registry Editor (RegEdit.exe).
  2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
  3. In the right Details pane, delete the IconStreams registry entry.
  4. In the right Details pane, click the PastIconsStream registry entry.
  5. Exit Registry Editor.
  6. Restart the Explorer.exe process.

Windows 7

Hello & thank you in advance for any help here.

I am running Windows 7 & am looking for a way to keep my volume control on screen instead of fading after a couple seconds. I am sure there is a key in registry file which controls this, however I do not know what to look for. Thank you

How to hide the volume control icon in system tray?
. I want to hide the volume icon in the system tray, so that my grandson can only use the volume control in the YouTube videos. I tried the following: - Right-click on taskbar - Select "Properties" - Click "Customize" - For Volume, select "Hide icon and notifications".

Volume control gone.
You wake up one morning and your volume control icon is not in the taskbar. You get into the customize box and the volume control has no icon. In the system controls box, volume control is grayed out and you can't turn it on there either. Any ideas?
