Is there a Screen Identify shortcut?

Is there a way to shortcut to the window's screen identification? What I am talking about, is when you go to adjust your screen resolution, there is a button that says "Identify", when you click on it, it then flashes a number on your monitor.

I have tried browsing through windows/system32 but I can not find anything that runs it. Thanks for any help!

Does anyone know of a program that gives you more in-depth information about the Windows GUI? If there is, perhaps I could run it and then click on the "Identify" button and it would tell me what exactly Windows is doing/redirecting to when I click that button.

I have tried looking up command-lines but have had no luck.

Sysinternals has a lot of good Windows monitoring tools (like Regmon, Procmon, TCPView, etc.). However, I don't think they will do much good for trying to identify such an action.

You could make a shortcut that runs "control.exe desk.cpl". That will take you straight to the screen resolution applet, and you will then just need to click the "Identify" button. However, I don't know a way to "Identify" your displays automatically... unless you write a script to do it using a scripting language like WinBatch.

I wrote a WinBatch script. It opens the screen resolution applet, clicks the Identify button, and closes the applet. If you're interested, I could compile it into an executable and post a link for you to download it.

Sorry for asking but I'm curious to what your use of this may be! I tried thinking of different situations but it just couldn't seem helpful haha. Let me know!

I'm not sure why anyone would want this, but it does what they asked.
