AddRAM - How did it help? I have a program called Warpia that allows me to watch TV on my TV from my computer. Every time I installed the program some how it wouldn't allow my computer to wake up when the screen blacked out and therefore I would have to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del all the time. Therefore, now I don't have to do that all the time, as when I watch a movie on my TV from my computer, I just switch over to the other boot.

Kaktussoft- Nope one is called "Main Windows" and the other is called "TV Link". I followed your advice and made it happen. Again, thanks.

As far as I know I didn't tell you how to rename those options, but you find out yourself I assume. Quite easy to make a dual boot system.

But the problem has been solved now?

Yes you did in an early post:

Every time you switch on computer you have to answer which OS to start. You can modify timeout from 30sec to 2 secs. After that timeout the default OS boots.

    You can:
    • modify bootmenu timeout value
    • modify default boot entry
    • modify the name in the boot menu
I just googles it and found it on this fourm.

    Hi there
you CAN run XP from a USB device and it runs quite well -- Just Google Hirens -- this guy got it to work.

For W7 to me the easiest way to run W7 from a USB stick is to install a small version of a decent Linux distribution on your USB - there are Loads of Linux distros that boot and run from a USB stick, install VBOX or VMWARE and run W7 as a Virtual machine from your USB stick.

You'll probably need at least a 16GB usb stick --preferably a 32 GB one. To create the VM do it on a Native machine as W7 won't normally install unless the partition assigned is around 20 GB or more. You can then copy the VM virtual disk to the USB stick -- Linux will have no trouble reading a Virtual disk created in Windows.

The performance isn't too bad BTW. USB boot is quite fast and on a decent size host most of the VM's Virtual disk will be read in to memory when the VM is powered on so I/O overhead shouldn't be horrendous.

Since I have win 7 Pro I installed XP and according to the program it wasn't fast enough. I had asked about VM, but was told it wouldn't work. So that is why I've dual booted.

    ?

On what device are you talking here

    Where won't a VM work !!!

Not sure what your post is actually saying

so do you DUAL BOOT from a USB !!.

If using the Main computer Of course using VM's will work -- it's just XPMODE won't work unless you have W7 Pro or higher. Nothing to stop you using VMWARE or VBOX on any version of Windows including Windows 7 starter if you have it.

    Cheers
