Do sites save cookies and personal info to your account

I'm somewhat OCD and I don't like it when sites save information to my accounts/my name that I cannot control.

I was wondering when I create a windows live msn email, log in, does it save information such as broswer i'm using, addons, past sites, how I got there. Identified with my account or is it all anonymously?

You know how sites track cookies, if I were logged in would it be linked to my account in any way. Like saved forever.

Heres an extract from Microsoft's privacy statement

"We collect additional information about your interaction with Microsoft sites and services without identifying you as an individual. For example, we receive certain standard information that your browser sends to every website you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access times and referring Web site addresses. We also use Web site analytics tools on our sites to retrieve information from your browser, including the site you came from, the search engine(s) and the keywords you used to find our site, the pages you view within our site, your browser add-ons, and your browser's width and height. "

Just need my accounts to be fully somewhat default, information from cookies, are they saved unique to my ID or are they just anonymously saved to a server.

I'm not very knowledgeable about information sites collect and how it's saved so if anyone could enlighten me I'd be greateful.

I know this is a weird post, sorry.

    Welcome
Yes many sites save cookies. This is one of the worst now, sign in and delete them all.
Then download and use ccleaner, to delete all cookies, so you cant be tracked.

Most cookies are anymous, Google has a record of all your searches, I dumped mine.

I'm not bothered about that, what I don't want is my email to be linked to anything I do online. (Don't worry I'm not talking about caring what I go on it's more of an OCD keep my accounts clean thing)

What I'm wondering is if cookies get saved to my login, like if I logged in to my hotmail, my cookies would be saved online to that login then the next time I login to hotmail those cookies get put back onto my computer.

Does it work like this or is all that information anonymous and not ID'd to peoples individual accounts.

(it's really hard to explain what I mean)

Yes, whenever you log in a cookie is made. If you want to be remembered, you check the box and that cookie is saved. If you do not check the box (remember me) the cookie is deleted. I am talking about the reputable and major email providers. AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. A new cookie is made if you are not remembered.

As far as I know its anonymous. Go to the webistes of the ones that bother you and read the privacy policy, they all have one.
I know of no legit websites that track you personally.
