    Windows 7 Search Questions

I have been checking out the Windows 7 Search function which is highly rated by MS as a considerable improvement over XP.

I was using as a target for the Search Function some *.mbx files which I know exist in the path :- C:\Users\My Name\App Data\Roaming\Qualcomm\Eudora. These files do not show when I type "*.mbx" in the search box inspite of the fact that they are present there.

If I click on the Properties of the service "Windows Search" I note that I have this set to "MANUAL".

Must I set this to "AUTOMATIC" to enable the location of these files to appear in the Search box?

My guess would be in Folder Options

tick Show hidden folders, files and drives
uncheck Hide Extensions for known file types
    you may have to also
uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

Windows Search is the subject of a lot of controversy on this forum.

Bottom line is that it "works" pretty well if you are willing to learn how to use it and ascend the required learning curve.

Others choose to use third party tools that will find *.mbx in 1 second flat with no learning curve.
