    How do I factory restore?

Hi, I have a windows 7 Advent quantum q200 laptop.
Everytime I log in I get the BSOD, so just wandering how I can factory restore my laptop, because 1, it's incredibly slow and 2, I don't mind losing personal files.

    Additional info:
I can log on in safe mode
I cannot system restore because I do not have a previous restore point

    Thank you

A search on Google revealed very little information.

You can buy a recovery disc for £25 here: Advent Quantum Q200 Restore and Advent Quantum Q200 Windows 7 Recovery Partition Re-Image DVDs.

I take it you didn't create a recovery disc yourself?

Well depending on the brand of machine you just hold down (sometimes it says to tap it) the factory default key as you power up > Google for the machine's brand factory default key:)

I know my Toshiba laptop for example is the 0 key:)

    Oops SV forgot that

Many manufacturers include a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive. Depending on manufacturer you have to click a certain key immediately upon starting the computer. Sometimes it's the F2 key (top of keyboard) or F11 or something else. You may also have something in the Start menu > Programs pertaining to the Advent. You might see Advent Recovery Manager, or Advent Diagnostics, or something else that would lead to accessing the recovery partition. Specific information should be in the user manual. You may have also been given the option when you originally set up the laptop to create a set of recovery discs. Make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD/DVD drive as first choice, insert Disc 1, and let the computer boot to that disc. follow the prompts to restore the machine to factory specs.

If you don't have access to a hidden recovery partition and if there's nothing in the Start menu, and if you didn't create the recovery discs, you might have to buy recovery media separately if you don't want to do a complete clean reinstall of the operating system.

EDIT: I'm going to tie one of seavixen's hands behind his back. He types too fast!!

Thanks for all the help guys, it's okay now, just really slow. Any tips to speed it up?
I've done a few things already but it's still fairly slow:
    Downloaded and ran Ccleaner
Uninstalled a few program's leaving me with only a few
Deleted a lot of unnecessary things in my documents.
Set the display options to look bad but give better performance
And finally I cleared all Internet history and cookies.

    Anything else I've missed?
    Thank you

Please start a new thread rather than hijacking this one.

It's bad manners to do it and you'll get a better response with your own thread. :)
