You were lucky to get ubuntu to install - can't get mint to install atm - oh well.

    What partition manager ?

If you used a linux one - you may have an issue with the filesystem .

You also may have deleted the active partition.

Probably best to boot PW free cd .

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

    Mark windows partition active.

    Run disk check option.

Then boot windows repair cd - try running startup repair 2 or 3 times.

If still no go - post back .

Boot partition wizard again - make sure the partition is NTFS

See if you can mark the windows partition active - rt click it select Modify>Set Active, then click the Apply button.

Then rt click windows partition and select check file system.

After that boot windows 7 repair cd and run startup repair - it might take up to 3 runs.

The try running disk check - partition wizard has that function.

It is also worth updating the mbr with partition wizard:

Rt click the Disk itself and select rebuild mbr.

I don't think you can make a bootable flash from the free version of partition wizard.

It is quite easy this way tho:

    1. download the partition wizard .iso - that is the one at the boot cd link.

    2. Use another program to burn the .iso to flash drive.

There is one here - it is a trial version , but is fully functional for 30 days - gBurner - A powerful CD, DVD and BD burning software

You just need to d/l the program - you don't need the virtual drive.

Remember you are marking the WIn7 partition Active. If it's a Logical partition you have to convert it to Primary first to mark Active.

Then click on the HD # to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply steps. Reboot to see if it starts.

This may preclude the need to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots from your Win7 DVD or Repair CD.

Si, Curious: what is the File System Check for? Maybe I should add it in these cases? Does it need to be run on all partitions to be complete, or just Win7?
