I have the same problem (such as many people)
Main problem atikmdag.sys (see in error`s log)
    Try to visit
    ATIKMDAG.sys problems and TDR FAQ
AMD Game Forums - ATIKMDAG.sys problems and TDR FAQ
    and
atikmdag stopped responding and has recovered...

    Problem not solved yet.

    Add:
I install drivers 8.62 from gainward website. In catalyst -> override set video ram speed to 750MHz-800Mhz. About 3 hour problem not appear!

Here is the solution to stopping random lockups in Windows 7

    1. Go to Start >>> Run
    2. Type in msconfig and press Enter
    3. Go under Services and turn off Workstation (you can alphabetize the list to easily locate this service)
    4. Restart the computer

Workstation is a network service for accessing network drives - there is a bug in the .dll behind this service which locks up the system. Most home users will not need Workstation service and you can safely disable it (uncheck it under Services in msconfig screen).

I lowered my ram speed to 800 from 1066 even though it was 1066 ram some time ago because the ram got SO FLAMING HOT that i could not touch the heatsinks even with airflow. I knew it would not last long if I left it that way.

Lowering the ram speed will have maybe 0.1% speed difference on your machine in reality so I wouldn;t worry about it.
