enter and exit.
that will fix a lot of problems.
It really is not fair to use some old outdated BETA when your wanting to see if it works correctly. also the version you are using could be corrupt/infested.
lets not ask why.

However, you are right. This problem most likely does not exist in the RC or RTM.

Please try one of those first.

Well if they are actually freezing as you said. Try to warm up your PC, that should do it.

You can either do that or simply repair windows.

Ahh, I see. I was in "applications and services logs"

anyways, the only "error" in recent times was from Safari, even though i'm sure many other apps stopped responding as well. Safari was maybe just the only one that actually crashed, and it only happened 1 time in the past couple of weeks. This is really starting to look like a memory leak, even though I can tell it isn't...

So far I've never had my system recover from this situation, and so nothing is ever logged about it other than "Windows was not properly shut down".

I've removed every non essential driver, no audio, kb or mouse drivers (other than the base HID drivers),and disabled the firewire and other hardware devices not needed.

It's freesing 2-3 times per reboot lately. Had a freeze even with everything but video, network and storage drivers (and usb but nothing but mouse and KB plugged in)

Just now removed two sticks of ram. But if that's the "Answer" then that is no answer. Running W7 64 and only two gigs of ram

Same ram ran perfectly with 7100. Will know in a day or two...

Not memory. Took two sticks out, still did it, swapped stiks, still did it, put sticks back in...

I'm actualy UNDER clocking my memory too! It's 1066 ram but running it at 800.

After more web searching, it turns out that a LOT of people are having problems with SSDs and Native Command Queing, and with storage drivers in general with SSDs. So since my problems started with one of two changes, one being moving to an SSD. I've disabled NCQ for the SATA port with the SSD in device manager.

Also found in my net searching that a lot of people are having random lockups with normal SATA drives as well, but there may be a fix in the form of a new "matrix storage driver" available from ASUS if you have an ASUS MB or other motherboard that uses a specific set of intel SATA chips (the article was not specific). This did not apply to my nforce 680i board unfortuantely.

There was also mention of a Windows hotfx to solve the problem but again nothing specific. I really wish Microsoft would give everyone with access to RTM acess to the hotfixes as well!

Anyway... still waiting on the results of turning off NCQ on the SSD. Though a couple of things are noticable already, the throughput actually went up considerably on a speed test and the Windows Experience tool refused to run after turning it off. ?!? It /feels/ the same speed so far though.
