Hello gr6, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You should be able to use either option in the tutorial below to add it. :)

    Open with - Add Program

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Thanks for the effort but,
Unless I am just too dumb for this neither of those suggestions permit you to add lightroom 4 64bit. the windows way will just not associate the 64 bit version and the app does not recognize any 64 bit programs

When you right click on a file that the program is able to open, and you click on "Open with", are you able to browse to and select the program's exe file, and check the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file box?

Open With - Change Default Program

That is not exactly what I am trying to do, but I would accept that, as it would put lightroon on the open with list........but that does not work, I browse to the file Lightroom 4.exe and open but nothing happens.......I know that works for most all programs but not Lightroom for some reason.

if it matters I really to not want LR to be the default program I only want it on the "open with" dialog box

It may not support opening the file directly like that.

Are you able to open the file from within Lightroom 4?

You may be correct but LR3 was able to do that and LR4 32bit is able to do that but its the 64 bit veersion I would like to use.
    Thanks for your time.

It's odd that you could do so with the 32-bit LR4 and not with the 64-bit LR4. You might see if you may be able to set the file extension to be opened by the 64-bit LR4 in Default Programs. If it works, then hopefully it should be listed in Open with as well.

Just to be sure, are you expanding the Other Programs arrow in "Open with" to see if the 64-bit LR4 may be listed there instead of just in the Recommended Programs section at the top?
