Notification icon in taskbar, is invisible, can highlight

This is my first strange problem I encountered since signing up on this board. I will post screencaps tomorrow. I have been told to look to underneath my battery's compartment to find the COA. Nothing else unusual, except that I was prompted to hit F1 and also my clock reset itself in Windows. What I see here now in the notifications area in the taskbar, is a blank space which appears to be an invisible icon to the left of the date/time. I can tell because the area is able to be highlighted as if it were a normal, visible notification icon, but the notification icon itself is invisible. Also, when I click the "show hidden icons" arrow, there appears to be big white space full of invisible icons too. As I mouse over them, the 'icons' seem to disappear and the area of icons become normal again.

I have this exact same problem (here's a screenshot), after installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on an iMac (using Boot Camp). Did you ever manage to fix this problem, and if so, how did you do it?

    Thanks in advance!

Use Pri Sc on your keyboard and paint to save the pic, upload the pic so we can have a look at it.

What shows if you click on customize ?

Check the box to always show all icons and see what happens.

It would show the normal page, but the icons that are invisible in the system tray will also be invisible on the Customize page, while the icons that are visible will appear normal in the Customize page.

Also, clicking the invisible icons does nothing, while clicking the visible icons still works.

Is there any chance at all that bad memory could be causing this for some reason?

What I was going to suggest. If the sfc/scannow doesn't do it have you tried to rebuild your icon cache?
