They are just .bmp files in C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper on XP. You can copy them from there and put them somewhere on your Win 7 hard drive then set any one you want as a desktop background.

    Code:

The download site they take you to, depositfiles.com reeks. You get a choice of free, ultra slow or $$$, normal speed. Click free and you get a 60 seconds countdown clock before the ultra slow download starts. Why would MS pick a crappy site like that?

That is some collectors' edition and not MS. I haven't heard any dire reasons not to trust Digital Life lately.

But it seems to have most national editions backgrounds. I put them in a slideshow on most of my installs and they get as many raves as the OS.

Why would you rely on anyone but yourself to find the most spectacular desktops in the world. Like your own pictures, for example.

I know MS spent a lot of money getting the best quality background shots for Win7 and they dazzle many users including myself to this day.

So when I came across this collection I downloaded it and have used it as a background slideshow to polish off my installs ever since.

But since it isn't much appreciated here I won't share it any longer.

<HUG> It's okay Greg, I appreciate it. As I'm sure others do. How do you import them to the wallpapers section? And I'm assuming by "slide show", you mean you select to change walpaper every X minutes?

    Hi James -

Download all to a folder in Pictures, edit out any you don't like.

Then rightclick on blank area of Desktop, select Personalize, then Desktop Background. Click the Browse button to find the folder with Backgrounds.

Select it and it will load all of the backgrounds into the Explorer window and should auto-select them all with a checkmark - if not choose Select All. Set slideshow to recommended 30 minutes and Shuffle (so it isn't predictable). Save Changes.

You'll roughly have a new background every time you start computer, with enough variety to always seem fresh.
