Simple instructions for installating XP Mode and Virtual PC

Can someone point me to a VERY simple set of instructions for correctly downloading and then activating XP Mode and Virtual PC? I would expect these instructions to be geared to the lowest common denominator like me, and answer the following:

    1) What has to be installed first: XP Mode or Virtual PC?
    2) If Virtual PC folder appears, but empty, how do you activate XP Mode?
    3) If a "re-do" is necessary, how do you uninstall everything and start over?

    My current situation...
Went to the the MS page for download of both XPM & VPC and followed the instructions which say download XP Mode first, then Virtual PC. The instructions that result are less than clear or intuitive.

After completing all the instructions that came up, I am left with a folder called "Windows VIrtual PC" which is empty. No XP Mode is found when I search the system.

As has been true for all my previous PC's with Windows OS's, the process is filled with more potholes than paved road. I have no idea what to do next, but I am sure it will take many hours to correct. (MS must make money based on the number of hours a customer must spend to get the OS to run.)

    This should do it.

MS own instructions on exactly how to get XP mode running on Win7 pro

The main info is download it, for free, then run the installer.

If cyclic's link doesn't float your boat (which it should), have a look at this tutorial.

Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup

You need to download and install XP Mode first, and then download and install Virtual PC.

You also need to check that your BIOS is capable of running hardware virtualisation and is set up to do so.
