Question about Technet subscriptions
Guys this might be a really dumb question, so sorry in advance if it is!!
If I have paid for a technet subscription, do I still need to purchase a key for Windows 7?
Thanks,
Ed

Ok thank you!!! So do you just get one key then? If so are you able to purchase more or is that one key like a volume license for multiple PC's?
Thanks,
Ed

Im going to defer to someone who has absolute knowledge. I dont have a sub to technet so I would rather they tell you. the situation on multi pc's-- I think you can get more than one key from technet. someone will be more definative

Ok thanks again. I was obviously wondering because if I can get a subscription for $261(after a 25% off coupon) and get multiple keys, or a volume license, then I could put Win 7 on all my computers at home, and even split the cost with my dad or something.
Obviously this would be a way better deal than buying it at the store!! So its probably one of those things, too good to be true.
Thanks,
Ed
During the "free Technet" fiasco I was able to get more than one key for Vista Ultimate (one of which I still use today) I think it's like 5 or some number like that.
I believe that with TechNet you get 10 install keys for Windows 7. Once you use a key on a machine and activate it, it's used. However, as long as the hardware on the machine doesn't change drastically, you can continue to reload over and over again and keep reactivating that same key without having to use a different key. Thus you would still have 9 keys available.
And yes, you are allowed to use them for as long as you wish on home machines. I called MS on this recently and as long as you aren't supporting a business or using the machines to generate revenue...you aren't in violation of the agreement.
And yes, you can save yourself a fair amount of money if you use a Technet subscription. If you have more than 1 computer at home, with the discount code, this is really the way to go.
WOW!! Ok thanks guys. Now can you get copies of Office and other Microsoft software (with keys) with that same supscription?
Thanks,
Ed
