Windows Fax and Scan only able to scan bmp

Need some help. I scan everyday in tif using Windows fax and scan. Yesterday, suddenly it stopped letting me. Now I can only scan using bmp which doesn't work with my work program. I spent the day yesterday trying to troubleshoot and am at a loss! I run windows 7 version 6.1 service pack one. Any ideas?

    Hi,

Please run the SFC file checker (the sfc /scannow command) 3 times and post the last log file here once you have completed it for me. Follow the directions here: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
This will repair system files and it might fix it. There is also a high probability that it wont solve the issue but it's a good start..

I'm unable to get a log. could you help me get that for you if you still need it? Thanks

    Hi again,

There's no need for me to see the log anyway as "Windows Resource protection did not find any integrity violations" meant it found no errors to fix.
Next idea, go to control panel then programs. Click turn windows features on and off. In the dialog box, uncheck fax and scan (not sure exactly what it's called as I'm not at my pc but it's something like that). Ok and reboot. Then do the same thing but enable it. Then reboot and see if you can scan properly again.

Thank you for all of your help. I'm not sure how you reinstall the drivers. Maybe you would be so kind as to help me tomorrow. Thanks and have a good night!

Apologies for the delay in the reply, here is how to reinstall the drivers for your printer.

Go to control panel and then to devices and printers. Locate the printer and delete it. I think you just press delete or right click. You should then uninstall any software that came with your printer. Then reboot. Locate the disk that came with you printer or go to the brother website. Insert the disk or download the file. That should install the printer drivers.

If not, go to devices and printers and click add printer. Make sure the printer is on and then follow the on screen instructions.

If you need a hand again, don't be afraid to ask.
