i recently bought an asus p8h67-v board and intel i3 2120 cpu. 450w power supply. i connected everythng. when i press the power button it doesnt start. but when i pull gently on the pwrest and hdd led cables the fan of the cpu starts, when i let go it goes off. pls help.

I'd re-seat everything including all cables, cards, memory, PSU, etc., ...
You could also try dis-assembling and "breadboarding", to test components / electrical shorts.
Something might be shorting because of a loose screw, standoff, solder joint, bad connection, ...

If it's QUALITY PSU 450 might be ok...If it's NOT quality, no telling...
You should fill in your System Specs to help determine what power you need...
Yes it always a good idea to buid the major components out of the case on an insulated surface, otherwise if you get problems as in your instance you really have to take it all out the case to check for shorts. At least if it was ok before when out of the case then you really only need make sure the mobo is on the stand offs and nothing is touching the case.
i did exacly as guys suggested and built all the major components outside the tower, and it worked, it turned out that the motherboard was touching the case with the cpu socket. thats why it kept switching off. thanks alot guys........................:)
