    What are all these playback devices?


    Hey I just reset my BIOS and reisntalled windows 7 for a fresh install, I looked on my playback devices and I have loads of options, where are these from? I havn't plugged anything in since I reinstalled windows

    I'm on my laptop to explain why I couldn't prnt screen, it has no keyb atm

    Start with installing the drivers for both your video card and sound, as neither are installed yet. That is the reason it is showing as "high definition audio device" for everything, as both are running on the default Windows drivers. Once that is done they will change to show the name of what they are from; the name of the sound card and the name of the video card (all the HDMI ones). May even find that there is less of them as well.

    No they're not or it would show the name of the sound card or onboard sound. Any time it shows as "high definition audio Device" it is running on the default Windows audio driver which has just about enough functionality to get sound out of the computer. You want it to work properly (5.1, headphone detection, etc), then you need to install the proper driver for it.

Hey, I'm experiencing frustrating issues with my playback and wondered if you guys could help? Basically I noticed when I turned on my laptop that there was no sound coming out of my Headphones, only the speaker. It was in the right jack as there are only two its not that hard to get right haha....
Symptom 1: Xonar D2 Audio Center does not behave normally -> Speaker test does not function. The speaker test function included in Windows under "volume\PlayBack Devices" does function normally. Symptom 2: Devices within "Playback Devices" are incorrectly named. How it should look: 257374...
