    Unable to shutdown Windows 7

    Hello everybody,

I wish somebody could help me :)
I'm having a little problem with my PC (Windows 7 Pro 64bits), I can't shutdown it... The hard drive stops but the PC is always on (fans, lights and the screen stay on "shutting down". I tried to reinstall drivers and I verified if any service blockes the shutdown...
    Has anybody any idea ?
    Thanks for reading !

Perhaps a shutdown trace will help identify the problem: Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace

I asked our resident trace guru to take a look. Don't know when he will have time to do so but hopefully soon.

How did you verify if any services are blocking the shutdown?

One way I've used to figure out what us causing a shutdown problem is to start Task Manager and click on the Process tab. Then shutdown. Watch Task Manager and see if you can determine what is causing the hang. Start killing likely processes until you find the one that allows the shutdown to complete. Then you have to figure out what that process is related to.

Well, again, I don't know what it could be for certain during your failed shutdown events, but even in this one you have something really odd - Veoh_GirafficWatchdog.exe service takes about 90% of the time in the trace *after* everything else shuts down. If you remove this app (don't just stop the service, remove the whole Veoh software) and reboot/retest, does the problem persist?

It might be be due to the following issues:
    1. Hardware incompatibilities
    2. Driver issues
    3. Repair Windows Registry
    4. Malware
    5. Antivirus programs
    6. Bugs in applications
