incidentally, as soon as quick scan is finished, you can start the full scan and go to sleep and let computer work while you sleep.
    hi karl,

I know how to set my boot priority from my BIOS. Ive set it as Removable Device 1st. But it just doesnt boot WDO via my USB.

Ive installed it correctly. And updated as well just before booting. You can check the screen shot of how WDO has renamed by pen drive.
My PC keeps telling me, insert proper boot device and hit the enter key. My mother board is P5QPL-AM

Does your computer's bios give the opportunity of a one-time boot from USB?

On some computers, immediately after pushing the Power ON button, start tapping the F12 key and choose the option to boot from USB.

On some computers, this capability is assigned to another function key.

This is a one-time boot and doesn’t change your normal boot sequence.

If your computer doesn’t offer this capability, then you will need to boot into the bios and change the boot order there so that Boot from USB is the first choice.

You will need to consult your computer manufacturer’s documentation.
    ===============================================

Watch out when you boot up from the USB stick.
Come computers, put on the screen, and only for a short time, a prompt telling you to hit any key to continue booting from USB.

The manual's garbage. Tried looking it up online, no luck so far. It only contains info about connecting the hardware and the Bios Menu and using easy flash utility to update bios (which does not work for boot). I already have selected the right boot priority (removable device first and HDD as second). The manual contains no info on the boot screen or process.
Please note, the USB stick is being detected in the BIOS menu

If i select HDD as boot, i can hit alt+F2 to start the easy flash bios utility, and i can hit f8 to get the "boot normally", "last known best config" menu. Theres nothing USB or flash related.
Selecting removable device as boot, gives me that error i mentioned in the previous post.

It might be helpful if you can post a screenshot of Disk Management (maximized with columns and such adjusted to provide max info) while the USB drive is connected.

    Hi,

The options listed after tapping F12 might also be listed as USB-HDD or USB-FDD. Do you see those options from F12?

Heres the screen shot... i guess disk management doesnt work either. So lol i guess i am just discovering newer troubles here. Says connecting to virtual disk service at the bottom. Stayed that way for over 5 mins

F12 does nothing. The only buttons that do anything in my bios are F8 DEL and ALt+F2.
    None of them are relevant.

Where are the results from WDO?

No sense futzing around until your system is malware free.

i cant get the USB with WDO to boot.

USB is recognized by BIOS and BOOT priority is set to Removable Device first.
But i get the message that insert proper boot device and restart or hit enter.

Follow this procedure to put WDO on a USB stick:
HOW TO USE WINDOWS DEFENDER OFFLINE ON A USB STICK
    Windows Defender Offline
    · is a free standalone, bootable malware and virus remover from Microsoft.
    · performs an offline scan of an infected PC to remove viruses, rootkits and other advanced malware.

Download Windows Defender Offline (about 764 kB)

You will have the choice of downloading the 32bit version (x86) or the 64 bit version (x64).
The link will help you determine whether you are running a 32 bit version or 64 bit version of Windows

NOTE!! You can download and prepare a 32 bit version using a 64 bit version of Windows
NOTE!! You can download and prepare a 64 bit version using a 32bit version of Windows.

You run the 32 bit version on a 32 bit version of Windows.
You run the 64 bit version on a 64 bit version of Windows.

The 32 bit download file name is: mssstool32.exe
The 64 bit download file name is: mssstool64.exe

For the curious, this program was originally name Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.

    INSTALLATION:
You will need an Internet Connection.
Insert 512 mB (Microsoft’s 256 mB is no longer accurate) or larger USB stick into a usb port.
Run the downloaded program--mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe
    NEXT button
Choose the option On a USB flash drive that is not password protected
    NEXT button
    NEXT button
    .
The install program will format the usb stick using the NTFS format.
The install program will download about 210 mB.
The install program will name the USB stick WDO_Media32 or WDO_Media64
The WDO_Media32 usb stick will have used space of 255 mB (268,140,544 bytes)
The WDO_Media64 usb stick will have used space of 282 mB (296,165,376 bytes)
You can expect the number of mB to increase as more malware appears.

UPDATE Windows Defender Offline USB stick:
    · reinsert the usb stick
    · run the installation program, mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe, again.
    · the update will download about 66 mB (mssstool32.exe) and 68 mB (mssstool64.exe).

Since the malware database is sometimes updated several times in a day, always update before running.

    PERFORM AN OFFLINE SCAN
Bootup your computer from the USB stick
Windows Defender Offline will automatically perform a quick scan.
After the quick scan finishes, Choose Full Scan
    Select all of your drives

The initial, full scan can easily take several hours, but
Remember, your computer is being very thoroughly checked for all types of malware.

    RESULTS OF THE SCAN
The results will be in 4 log files in:
    \Windows\Microsoft Antimalware\Support
