    Can't Delete Icons Off of Desktop


    How do I delete icons off the desktop?

    I have some icons on the desktop that represent executable files of applications I downloaded. After running the files, I deleted them. The files deleted but the icons didn't go away. When I try to delete the icons, a window entitled "Item Not Found" pops up and says "Could not find this item."

    Click on some empty area on desktop. Now press F5 (refresh). Did it refresh (you see some flickering)? problem solved?

    Hi. I actually didn't get around to doing anything, but he icons eventually disappeared on their own. Now when I delete one, it goes away immediately as expected. I don't know why they wouldn't delete before.

This happens quite often; sometimes when I delete icons from the desktop, they don't disappear from the desktop. If I try to click one, however, it gives me a message that it cannot be found. I have to go to the task manager and close explorer and re open it. Any registry fixes?
Desktop icons won't delete

I accidently unzipped a folder to the desktop so the zipped contents were placed on the desktop instead of into a folder like I intended to do. I just selected them all and deleted them and did it into a folder but three icons from the files are left and they cannot be deleted. This is message...
